What is the Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption?

This exemption is a significant relief measure for qualifying disabled veterans. It covers 50% of the first $200,000 of your home’s actual value, reducing your property tax burden and making homeownership more affordable.


Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the property tax exemption, you must meet these criteria:

  • Disability Rating: You must have a 100% permanent and total service-connected disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Primary Residence: The property must be your primary residence as of January 1 of the year in which you apply. If your spouse owns the property, you can still qualify if you were married on or before January 1 and both of you have occupied the home as your primary residence since then.
  • Ownership Requirements: You must own and live in the home as your primary residence.

How to Apply for the Exemption

Follow these simple steps to apply for the Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption:
