The U.S. House of Representatives has passed its version of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), bringing a proposed military pay raise of 5% to 7% one step closer to becoming reality. While the bill still needs Senate approval before it can be signed into law, this is welcome news for active duty service members and military families across the country.

The House version of the FY2027 NDAA proposes:

- Faster TRICARE enrollment for transitioning service members.

- Air Force Academy reforms, including restoring the cadet wing to 4,400 cadets.
- Supply chain security initiatives to better protect military electronics.
- Legislation recognizing Vietnam War hero Maj. Robert Lodge with the Medal of Honor.
- Additional defense policy updates that will be reconciled with the Senate version.
The proposal authorizes approximately $1.15 trillion in national security spending for Fiscal Year 2027.
